I usually dread Mondays, but today, I feel like it’s not too bad—considering the best news, which is that it is actually my ‘work’ Thursday, since I only work today and tomorrow! YAY—San Diego—2 days and counting. I’m not feeling too great, so I’m hoping I can not be too stressed the next couple of days and get my act together and rest up before leaving.
The weekend was a crazy hot mess of fun, excitement, organizing my life, preparing to leave this week, and just trying to figure out which way was up. Seriously, I did NOT stop for the last 48 hours (I guess it’s more if you count Friday night).
We worked the fish fry on Friday, as usual. Great turnout, which made me ‘oh so’ happy! It always puts a smile on my face when the kids turn out for service events. I mean, seriously, there was more kids there Friday than the last social event we held, so that’s saying something. I love those people. A lot.
Saturday I was running. Starting Thirty-One, I am seriously trying to get my bearings underneath me. They want you to do 3 parties in the first 30 days, which would be fine, however, I have this trip to SD, which just sort of is throwing a wrench into my planning. All of my paperwork comes in while we’re gone, so I spent Saturday morning doing what I could research/training wise online. The company is great and had a lot of stuff for me to start looking at until I get my feet wet and have an actual party. I’m still really excited. When I get back from SD, watch out, cause I am jam packed with parties and fun for 31!
That afternoon, I spent the afternoon volunteering at Acquire the Fire youth event in Metairie. Compassion International, who I sponsor my little Kilonzo from Kenya through, was a sponsor for the event, so I worked the table. It was *such* a blessing. First off, I got to be there for the Flame rap concert—um, hello, how much does Jesus love me for him to have that while I was there?! ;) I also got to see The Afters perform and hear a pretty awesome talk, which I wasn’t necessarily expecting. I was there for the Compassion talk, which was a testimony from a sweet girl named Olive, who was from Uganda, and had made it through the Compassion program and now lives in the states and works for Compassion. SUCH an amazing testimony she had. When she was 10, and they were escaping different companies, she was sleeping with only her blanket in a field and a python literally wrapped itself around her. All she could do was pray and speak the word of Jesus, through Psalms 23, and the python miraculously uncoiled itself from her body and she lived. Uh.Ma.Zing. She worked the table and was just so so sweet. It seemed like they had a great response to new sponsorships, so that is awesome! They had an amazing worship session, and I was in the throne room, let me tell ya! It was definitely a highlight of the day for me.
I went straight to Covington to celebrate David’s birthday at Zea’s. MMMMM…asian almond shrimp rock my world! SO good! Isn’t this a great pic of the Schultz family? :) Cuties!
I then moved on to my next birthday celebration and went to bring Jazzy her gift. I also will say I went over there to get the double doozie cookie cake. MMMMM…that REALLY rocks my world. Give me cookie cake and I swear I’ll be your best friend. Forever. And ever.
Sunday, I was in an organizing storm…I cleaned out drawers, cabinets, filing systems, went to run some errands, all in the name of Thirty-One. I had to get myself together so I can do my business and do it right! I am having my debut party for Thirty-One the weekend after I get back, so postcards took up a lot of time, as well. Gathering addresses can wear a girl out!
I packed most of the stuff for my trip and did laundry. I found out I’m a little OCD when I’m packing (really, the packing cubes are out of control, but make me smile—Erin, you’re going to laugh at me). But, I think when it comes to planning and organizing, people should know that about me by now. I can plan and organize like a beast.
Well, that’s my little weekend update…I wanted to also tell you that I’m channeling my inner Kelly Purkey and Amy Tangerine (some more favorite scrapbooking bloggers of mine). I decided that I’d do a picture of the day for the month of March. I got a good app on my phone and so far, so good. I figured it wasn’t as hard as doing the WHOLE year, but, it’d be fun to try. Maybe if I do it like they do, I won’t have as much trouble. We’ll see how it goes…I can’t wait to try and figure out which ones to pick from the trip! I know we’ll have some GREAT shots.
